Does it annoy anyone else when stars show off their singing ability when singing Christmas Carols?

It's hard to explain in writing, but if you listen to Christmas Carols by people like Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey you'll see what I'm talking about. All that extra vocal stuff they add to some of the words in their songs. It completely ruins the feeling of the song. Do many people actually prefer those messed up versions?

1. It annoys me too!! It bothers me when trying to sing along to it...I don't know how anyone would prefer those versions.
2. It does ruin it, and it irritates me so much. I prefer carols being sung simply, how they are meant to be sung...not all that complicated stuff that they do... They're trying to make it their own, but it's not their song, it never will be their song and they really should just stick to keeping things simple.
