1)Do you realise not everyone celebrates it? 2)You greet everyone with 'Merry Christmas' would you greet your non-christian friends too? 3)How do you expect them to reply/ what are they meant to reply with? 4)Do you think its strange some people are living today as any other day(working etc.) 5)person 1: merry christmas person 2: (what is the right etiquette to say back?) thanks :)

- 1. yes. 2. if i know they don't celebrate christmas then i don't say merry christmas. i'll say happy hanukkah if i know they celebrate that, or happy holidays. 3. thank you for realizing not everyone celebrates christmas. 4. yeah, christmas should be about spending time with family. 5. thank you, merry christmas.
- 1. yes. 2. sure. 3. smile or reply the same. christmas has outlived religious limits; its a time of gift-giving, joy, peace, and realizing what really matters in life. 4. no. everyone has their own perspective on how to enjoy this day, others may even consider every day a christmas. 5. thank you.
- I do realize that not everyone celebrates it. My husband and I did not this year, not because I dont believe in it, but because we dont feel very jolly. I lost both parents this year, Christmas just isnt what it used to be. We do not go to church but we live as right as we can and yes we know God but are not christians. I reply to people that say Merry Christmas with a smile and a Merry Christmas back to them.
- 1. Yes 2. I say Happy Holidays ( so I don't offend people ) 3. I expect them to reply Thanks or Happy Holidays 4. No, because its christmas the world cant just stop and sit at home. I've got to go into work today even though I would rather spend it with my family. You know ( I'm not a doctor ) but doctors HAVE to work on christmas. 5. 1. Merry christmas ( them ) 2. I reply: Merry Christmas to you too; or Have an excellent holiday
- 1) Many people do not celebrate christmas for many reasons. 2)I always greet my christian friends, they are ok with it since they know that i celebrate christmas 3)I don't expect them to say anything back, if they don't want to say anything then so be it. 4)My father has always worked on christmas, i find it unfair since his boss gets to sit at home with his children while me and my brother have to wait for him to get home. 5)person 1: Merry christmas person 2: Merry Christmas to you to, or Merry christmas and a happy new year(if you aren't going to see them for the new year)
- 1. yes 2. i don't great people with "merry christmas" generally because i try to be politically correct 3. i think most would probably just reply "happy holidays" or something like that and just let it go 4. YES! even if i didn't celebrate christmas (or hanukkah which is also happening right now) I would try to get the day off :) 5. i mean you can be confrontational, but you can also just say the part from number 3, like "happy holidays" or "happy new years" with that being said happy holidays :)
- i don't celebrate christmas, so i don't tell people merry christmas, but when other people i say it back to be polite. I work on Christmas every year, if it is my scheduled day off let people know i do not mind working, so they can have the day off.
- 1) Yes 2) I greet my friends with Happy holidays. Most of my non christian friends celebrate christmas and I will celebrate there holidays with them. 3) Thanks you and happy holidays 4) I work with people with disabilities, so I work Christmas every year. Unfortunatly they dont always have family to spend it with.
- If someone says Merry Christmas I respond the same.If I know someone celebrate Hanukkah I greet them as such. I say Merry Christmas and take a shot. However it is the goodwill of the speaker for a peaceful holiday and happy time. That to me is a condition all humans want to be in anytime of year, religion or not.Saying Merry Christmas is not a attempt of converting someone to Christianity just a happy greeting. So why is that a bad thing. The responses would be a simple Thank-you for a goodwill greeting. It is not strange to me that people are working on Christmas nurses, doctors, police, firefighters and farmers myself included as I have animals that get fed and cared for even Christmas. If someone said "Happy Hanukkah" not being jewish I'd thank them just for including me in a happy celebration even if I'm not Jewish. All of these holidays are times of peace and joy so I'm glad that someone would greet me rather than yell something nasty or hostile. They just want to share their happiness.Like I said a simple thank-you.
- 1)Do you realise not everyone celebrates it? it seems like everyone does ' 2)You greet everyone with 'Merry Christmas' would you greet your non-christian friends too? yes because they are just not religious and celebrate christmas as a tradition anyways 3)How do you expect them to reply/ what are they meant to reply with? ummm Merry Christmas to you too? 4)Do you think its strange some people are living today as any other day(working etc.) yes i do its weird 5)person 1: merry christmas person 2: (what is the right etiquette to say back?) seasons greetings (then person 1 will know not to do that again to person 2)
