Do Muslim converts from Christianity miss anything about Christmas?
Singing carols in the snow, putting up the Xmas tree, mulled wine (presumably haram) - are all these things considered blasphemy to them? Do they enjoy looking at Christmas lights - or have to avert their eyes? My Muslim convert friend told me that a Santa character is not allowed because telling lies is haram (forbidden). So what is there that is fun (for kids) in Islam - or is is it all just fasting, prostrating and generally being depressive about every aspect of life?

- Maybe that's why they blow themselves up and fly airplanes into buildings. Without Christmas, life wouldn't be as fun.
- BE A MUSLIM AND TELL US
- nope christmas sucks... nothing to be missed about it
- Islam is not about fun, it's about knowing God and accepting his unity (oneness), the worldly and secular fun you are talking about ends very soon, but the eternal joy and prosperity promised to all Muslims is such that you can't imagine. don't worry muslims enjoy praying God than any other ordinary stuff you said.
- I missed the love FROM God in Christianity. Once heard a muslim scream "Why God need to love?!" "Love is weakness." I should thank him, he started me on my path back to the human race and away from the cult of hateful misogynists. There really is no love in islam. Not that all muslims are uncaring. It's pointless and sad really to desperately cling to and search for goodness in something that is inherently hateful, racist, misogynistic and ugly.
- "depressive"? That's funny, just because it shows how little you know. Do you mean as in real depression? because muslims absolutely have the lowest suicide rates in the world, and it's written in medical books. Or do you just mean not fun? because we have our own feasts that we celebrate where children get gifts and new clothes and money and candy, where they visit family and bond. Or do you mean just unhappy? because a true muslim is never unhappy, because when something good happens he's thankful and content, and when something bad happens he knows it's a test from God and he's patient and happy because he knows he'll be rewarded for his patience. Do you think Jesus made "santa"? why is it "christian" to believe in santa? I think he's a character made up by companies that want to sell their products!! it'a called marketing, not religion!
- It's certainly not 'depressive' at all. As someone has mentioned a true muslim does not hate etc. They are greatful for whatever Allah gives them in life. Though there are muslims, like in any relegion, who are only relegious when it suits them, or when they have time. The media exagerates these suicide bombings, whilst never showing how true muslims react. I'm not denying there are suicide bombings, but that's not the characteristic of Islam. As for Christmas, I do know some that still buy their children presents for it, and so on but there is also Eid, which is what muslims celebrate. I'm muslim, but my grandma is christian so on Christmas day I tend to go to hers' so she does not spend it alone. As for converts, if they truly do believe in the Islamic faith, then they would understand before converting that they would not be celebrating Xmas, so really they wouldn't miss it.
- They do not but there children do very much. l had a friend who is a Jehovah Whiteness. One day, just the two of us were talking during lunch brake. He was telling me about his faith and after a while l asked him that it must of been hard growing up not celebrating Christmas Holidays, not getting gifts when other kids you knew were getting them?. Are backs were to the wall and l just hind of a glanced in his direction l could see from his reaction that it hurt him deeply. This friend was grew up a Whiteness. Can you imagine how children who enjoyed the Christmas Holidays now and all od a sudden it is taken away from them might feel?
- They miss a great deal more than that. So do those who have Christmas without Christ.
- I'm not a Muslim or a Christian and I don't do any of that shit, nor do I care about it, are you saying that I'm not happy? I think your question is a little stupid. Oh, and Santa? Yeah, lie to children and then bring their entire world crashing down when they figure out. Funny how people think lying to little kids is ok, you're just raising liars. BE ASHAMED !...Oh and Christmas lights are ruining the environment !1!!!!!!11111!!
- muslims do celebrate it in some ways as far as i know, some do, some dont "depressiveness" huh? interesting.
- Now we are celebrate our second festival ( 4 days ) . in this festival we took our kids to play alseo we give them money and gifts .
- I don't know about Muslims but I certainly don't miss it. The greed; the fake appreciation then they go and change the gift or give it to a charity shop; the hypocrisy when they go to church maybe for the 1st time that year and spend the rest of the year deliberately committing serious sins like fornication... Looking in instead of taking part has really opened my eyes to the tarnish behind the glitter, so to speak. Yes, it can be a time for families to show their love for each other but in Britain it is also the time for the highest rate of domestic abuse It can be a time to praise God for the provision of His son but the son is kept perpetually a babe - which by implication relates to powerlessness and no adult capabilities. It is also a celebration that is seeped in pagan traditions - please check for yourselves the origins of the yule log, xmas tree, mistletoe etc. You imply that if people don't celebrate Xmas they cant have any fun in their lives? I really don't understand your reasoning. Does every Xmas celebrator of course not sit around and wait for 25th December to enjoy life?! of course not...similarly we all enjoy our life to the full Muslim, Hindu, Jehovahs Witness etc - we enjoy every day to the full and even have special days for extra enjoyment. Please look beyond your definition of enjoyment because people have different values from yours. Not less or more valuable - just different. Oh, and I have a few tasteful twinkly lights up all year round as indoor decoration...I think they are gorgeous and not limited for xmass use.
- There are other things to celebrate than Christmas which is only once a year, thank goodness. I have seen many Muslims celebrate life through Eid and Marriage. The radicals and extremist are not part of Islam even though they claim to be. Jewish, Jehovah Witness, Amish and many others do not celebrate Christmas the way you do. You can celebrate at anytime you want and don't have to stick to a religious agenda.
