Who is the actor in the old black and white Christmas Carol movie?

This is for a gift for my mom, so I can't really ask her without being too obvious. This is an old movie that used to play on tv and she would watch it every year as a kid (she is in her 40's now). It's a black and white movie and she hasn't seen it for years. She absolutely loves it, but I can't find who the actor is who plays Scrooge to help me track it down. This is all the info that I know. Please help!
