- It would be Alaska. At the magnetic pole the aurora is actually rather rare because the Aurora is usually in the shape of a banded oval, which is centered around, but removed from, the magnetic pole. As a result aurorae tend to be along the horizon at the magnetic poles, but high in the sky at latitudes such as Alaska's
