How do you find North when you standing in North Pole?

Suppose I am standing in North Pole, then how many directions do I have to move furthur? Just two?(East and West)? Or Can I still go to further North? How does Geologists define directions in north or south pole? Does I really make sense to anybody? Please share your views

  1. You can go so far north, that you start heading south. You can so far south that you start heading north.\ You can always go east You can always go west.
  2. The fact is actual North (magnetic north) is shifting rapidly at a rate of 36 km/year since past two decades towards Russia. So, the compass what shows is wrong now a days. As far as your question is concerned, you can move in either of the 3 major direction - South, East and West. Just look the map carefully.
  3. Ooo! You trying to find santa?!! lol jk sorry I can't be of help
  4. If you are actually standing on the true North Pole, you can move in only one direction - south.
  5. It depends on how you want to define "north". The Geographic North Pole is at 90 degrees north latitude and is as far north as you can go. Any step you take will go in only one direction...south. But if you are holding a compass at the North Pole (90 degrees north latitude), you will see that you can, in fact, move any direction, not just south. This is because the Magnetic North Pole will be south of you in Canadian waters. It moves because the earth's magetic field is always in flux. One day it moved 80 kms.
