How do you get from Santa Cruz to Oakland, California via public transportation?

My boyfriend and I are thinking about going to go see AC/DC when they play in Oakland, but we live in the Santa Cruz area and neither of us can drive. We're not sure if a parent can drive us, so what is an easy way to get from either Watsonville or Santa Cruz to Oakland?

1. do you know what your getting yourself into by going to oakland? i live like 10 minutes from there and its hella scary. theres like a murder a night there.
2. From Santa cruz take hwy 17 bus to SJ diridon( Caltrain station) From SJ diridon take VTA bus #180, 181 to Fremont BART. From Fremont take BART to Oakland Coliseum, All bus train and connected, and run every 20 to 30 min, total travel time 2 1/2 hours, so get earlier.
3. city bus or bart. =]
