Gift Idea for a Co-worker?

Hello All, I decided to have a Kris-Kringle gift-exchange kinda thing at my job this year because most of us were feeling emotional after 5 layoffs and I thought it would be fun and put everyone in the holiday spirit. I picked the name of a guy who I work with that I don't know too well so I'm stumped on what to get him. The limit is $20. Would a DVD of say "Step Brothers" be OK? I know he has a sense of humor but I can't think of anything else that's appropriate. Any other suggestions will be appreciated. SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY PLEASE Thanks! Thanks, Becky. That may work. :) We're not allowed to tell one another who has who so that the person won't find out who their "Secret Santa" is. :)

  1. how about a $20 gift card to best buy? then he can buy whatever dvd he wants.
  2. I think that you show good insight into your co-worker, by noticing that he has a sense of humor. A DVD of a funny movie would be an excellent choice, since he can always trade it with someone else, if he doesn't like it.
  3. Since it's a coworker, a nice planner or a 2009 calendar for his desk would be nice. A gift card is a good idea, too.
  4. How about talking to someone else in the office who knows him better, get a better idea of what he likes. It's more thoughtful I think and I'm sure he'd appreciate the little extra effort.
  5. a visa or mastercard giftcard, he can spend it anywhere he wishes too
  6. You can't go wrong with gift certificates to like: department stores, restaurants, supermarket, movie rental, etc. Even for birthdays I don't like to get DVD's for people because I don't know if they already have one - people know I have a lot of movies so they know better to get me something else. How about a unique wallet and put a gift card inside it. And nothing says Merry Christmas to a guy than food - so maybe a meat, cheese, cracker/bread and wine combo.
  7. A gift card to Best Buy sounds like a good idea. But if you want to do something else, you could get him a bag of really good coffee, put it in a nice mug and wrap a little ribbon around it.
  8. For that money you can get a nice nut gift set - you know - peanuts, almonds, whatever. Even if he doesn't like nuts, most people entertain this time of year, and could put it out for company.
  9. I'd get him a DVD of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation--VERY funny holiday movie!
