what to write in Christmas card when you can't afford gift?

We own our own business which has fallen dramatically. These cards are for friends and neighbors who we usually exchange gifts with.

1. don't send cards either.
2. I would just write your usual message, but talk to them ahead of time and let them know you've had to scale back due to the times. they'll understand, everyone's going through it. In fact, they'll probably be relieved that you brought it up and took the pressure off of them!
3. What comes to your heart. Or, check online at poetry, holiday poetry, love poems, and free e-card sites for ideas. Whenever, I usually try to post the author. Sounds nice!
4. This year, instead of gifts, all we can offer is our love and friendship... but know that it's truly from the heart....
5. Merry Christmas! We hope you have a wonderful holiday this year.
