Why is there no thunder at the north pole?

In the popular cell phone game "Are you Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" One question asks where you cant hear thunder? The answer is "The North Pole" Why is thunder not present there?

1. Evidently, there seem to be no rainstorms which are capable of producing lightning.
2. there's Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen; There's Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen; and Rudolph of course.... but there's no Thunder.
3. !!!NORTH POLE!!! Only Tropical Places Have Thunder Storms, Because it's so hot, Thunder happens, but in cold weather, there is no thunder, in the Winter you dont see thunder storms, only in the summer when it's hot.
