How should I make Christmas special for my kids in a hotel?
All of my life I have always gone to my grandparents on Christmas eve & then done Christmas at home on Christmas morning, but this year me & my 2 children (7 & 11) will be going with my boyfriend to visit his family out of town. We aill be staying in a hotel & I am wanting ideas on how to make it special for my kids. Should I let them open a few gifts on Christmas Eve? Maybe bring a small tree & lights to put presents under to open Christmas morning? I know my boyfrind said we will go to his grandparenst on Christmas Eve sing carols, then go back Christmas morning to open gifts & we will be coming home on Christmas afternoon. Should I bring santa gifts to hotel, or leave them at home to let the kids open when we get home? I really don't know what to do, but want my kids to enjoy themselves. Also my kids only know my boyfriends immediate family (they will be there too) but have never met his grandparents, aunts & uncles on the side of family we will be seeing. I just really don't want my kids to feel like they are missing out, cause this is the first time we are doing things different on Christmas. Also any gift ideas for the extended family that I don't know really well?

- Make sure you have a tree. The presents would be too hard to carry in. Open them after or before you go to the hotel.
- take a small tree...and dont open any gifts until the normal time..make it your home away from home..have them decorate the room....and go to their house sing carols...take all the santa gifts or mail them now to his family so that they are there....have your christmas when its christmas if not your kids will resent that man in your life..cause he disrupted theirs...gift ideas...chapstick..candy...picture albums..gloves fuzzy socks...candles...flashlight keychains...fishing lures if they are a fisherman..if they are a hunter get them those warm hand things...depends on what they like..your bf should know
- after the kids fall asleep run to walmart or cvs get some cheap garland you can trow away, candy canes ect and hang them up around the room, some little candy or small toys you can put into gift bags, leave their gifts at home so they have something from santa under your tree.
- The gifts from santa leave at home, but I would say let them open something on christmas eve, we always had a tradition of that. maybe to make it christmas like you can buy some garland and put some up around your hotel room. As long as there are other kids at the house they will probly have a great time. Gifts for the family, you can do movie gift baskets. pick a movie and you can put popcorn and candy or pop, anything you can think of to go with it.
- buy a little tree, and put the prezzies in a bag, make sure to tell them santa knows where you are at all times. then put them in another room, or wait til they are in a DEEP sleep. then slip all the prezzies under the tree. when they wake up they will be surprised. and happy. :) my parents did it for me when i was 8 . i loved it.
- You should decorate the hotel room with maybe a small tree, and some tinsel would be also nice. I think you should give the kids the santa presents at your boyfriends parents house. Tell them you wrote to santa and told him the situation and he will deliver them to the parents house instead. Make them think he knows they will be there on the day to collect them. This way they will not miss out on santa visiting, he will just be leaving the presents some where else ;) Maybe leave a few small presents around the hotel on Christmas eve and do a treasure hunt for them and leave clues around and say santa made up this trail whilst they were in your boyfriend's parents house. As far as the extended family, tell your children that it is nice to meet new people and they will enjoy it even though it is not normally what they would do on Christmas. For gifts the following are quite safe options: * Chocolates * Deodorant set * Vouchers (Get ones for places that are plentiful in the surrounding area not one that is very rare) I hope this helps and HAPPY CHRISTMAS :)
- get a tree. bring all the gifts and let them open 1 each on xmas eve then open the rest on xmas day. watch xmas shows and play xmas music all of the xmas stuff. and make cookies! if you like this answer post it as best answer
