Why so many bad words in Christmas carols?

I'm not trying to stir up debate or anything but I'm not a kid anymore and I wonder why there are so many bad words in Christmas carols. I thought Christmas was supposed to be about all kinds of good things and gifts so I'm not sure why the songs say bad things. I realize there may not be an answer. I am only curious.

1. We need more info to effectively answer your question: Which Christmas Carols, and which bad words?
2. what do you consider bad words...if you are referring to anything religious then you are a jerk
3. Most traditional carols are hundreds of years old. Perhaps you just don't understand the old language? Please give us some examples, (if the language isn't too bad).
4. I can't think of a single Christmas Carol that has an actual "bad word" by society's standards. What song are you thinking of? Keep in mind "gay" is not a bad word and does not refer to homosexuals.
5. I agree. I can't count the number of times I have had to give a clip round the ear to mischievous youngsters caroling outside my house, singing "God Rest Ye Merry Cunts," "Once in Royal David's Fucking City," and "O Come All Ye Cum-Gobbling Arse-Bandits of the Parish."
6. what songs are u talking about -- i can't think of any bad words in a carol
