What would happen if someone really sent a letter addressed to Santa Claus at the North Pole?
My 3 year old wants to send a letter to Santa. I thought it moght be fun to see if it comes back to my address.

- the post office has a department that will answer the letter. Just address to Santa Claus North Pole. Sometimes it won't be answered. I had my class send Santa letters and a few didn't receive a reply, but most received a letter back, signed:)
- The USPS has a set up for that. They keep the letters and in some cases reply to them- if I remember right.
- you can send a letter to: sanda clause North pole HOH OHO its canada, but he will get it, it is actully a organization and they do send a letter back to the child. its fun and makes the kids happy...if by chance you dont get a letter back, then you write a reply letter for your child, they wont know the difference
- they get thousands every year at the post office,if a return address is on it then it comes back,if not they go to the store house of lost and kept for a few years as someone sorts through them.............
- YES! You can send a letter to Santa. There is an organization in Finland that will receive and reply to a letter sent to Santa. I don't believe it's free though. Here's the link : http://www.santatelevision.com/lettereng/ You can even track Santa's "progress" on Christmas Eve thanks to NASA: http://liftoff.msfc.nasa.gov/home/seasonal/santatrackhome.html
- the post office keeps them and people can pick them up if they want to grant a wish so put a return address on it, you never know santa may show up
- I've never had a reply sent back....I've heard that they go to the dead letter box and incinerated after some time. What I do with my children is let them write their letters, we put them in envelopes and I promise to mail them the next day. Then I get on my computer (like a week later) and type a letter from "santa"...I use Lucinda Script font on Microsoft word. I print it out on white card stock and roll them and tie with ribbon. I make sure that I put them in the mail box after the mailman has come and have my kids go with me to check the mail later on. They get so excited...and I don't have to pay money for such a simple joy. Plus it's more personal because I can have santa say stuff like "you need to eat more veggies, or you are doing so good in reading" stuff like that that my kids wouldn't put in a letter to him. It really gets them thinking that Santa really can "see" what they are doing. Good luck.
- Your 3 year old will get a letter back. Most post offices do that.
- Send it to the following address and Canada Post employees and retirees write back to children all over the world. Remember to include a return address. My kids got letters sent to them from Santa every year. http://www.canadapost.ca/personal/dec/santa/writesanta/default-e.asp
- People do it all the time, the Post Office here in the UK used to employ people at Christmas to deal with them. Don't know if they still do.
