Can someone help me with this riddle?
Q: A hunter pitched her tent and then hiked straight south for five miles; she then turned and hiked five miles due east. Finally she turned again and hiked five miles straight north where she saw a bear ripping apart her tent. What color was the bear? A: White, because it had to be a polar bear; other wise the hunter would've been five miles away from her camp. I understand the direction and everything but where polar bears live is there no direction or something because it's the tip of the earth, at the poles? Thanks Ok Thanks but why is that?

- The north pole is the only place on earth where you can travel in the manner of the riddle.5 miles south, then five miles east and then five miles north would put you 5 miles directly east of your original position if you were any where but the north pole to start out with.
- ya! DUH! LOL! JK I WOULD HAVE BEEN STUMPED BY THAT ONE SO NO WORRIES!
- Yes, it is because of the poles, and because the earth is round. If you do these directional measurements on a spherical shape, you will see what i mean. Hope this helps.
- She was at the North Pole. If you are at the north pole and you walk south than walk east or west any distance than walk strait north you will come back to your starting point. Try it with a round ball. Put your finger on top, move it down, than move it across. than move it straight to the top.
