what do you think the effects of having no ice left in the north pole?
there is supposed to be no solid ice left in the north pole by the end of summer and only a thin layer in the winter. it is supposed to directly affect us. How do you think it will?

- we will all melt!
- we would have no more cold ocean currents
- 1. The ice reflects the sun's heat back into space. Without the ice more heat will be absorbed by the Earth, warming the Earth more thus affecting weather patterns. 2. The polar bear habitat will be destroyed and the polar bear population will drop dramatically and possibly they will become extinct. Other organisms will be affected in the same fashion.
- our world will become totally water....
- it will lead to rise in sea level .the polar species may become extinct . the maintainance of global temperatures may be affected . global warming may accelerate . if searching minerals is more important than saving arth then man is walking on the path of self destruction !
- First off, all that ice will turn into less dense water and flood some of our shorelines (because the sea level will rise). Then we'll have even less land area. Secondly, since ice reflects alot of sunlight back into space, the melting of some ice will only cause the earth to heat up more, which will contribute to more melting ice and more heating up...which contributes even more to global warming. Lastly, although we do not use ice (frozen freshwater) yet, the melting of these freshwater reserves will empty them into the salty ocean, futher limiting our freshwater supply. Who ever thought ice was so important?
- It will mess up the rain cycle and the ratio of salt water to fresh water in the ocean. That means more rain for us, hurricanes, flooding, tornadoes, tsunamis. Think of all the natural disasters. We'll just have to wait and see! Good luck!!!
- The penguins and polar bears will come down and live in people's backyards and you will have to feed them. But then oil will be discovered under the old ice and gas prices will go to thirty cents a gallon and we will happy about starting global warming!
- There will still be plenty of ice up there, just possibly not at the direct north pole. As for the sea level, it should not rise much at all. Sea ice has no impact on sea level, only land ice/glaciers have an impact. The sea ice is already part of the ocean, so when it melts everything just balances out and there is no rise in the sea level (just like when ice melts in a glass of water).
