Who replies to the letters children send to Santa Claus at the North Pole?

My nephew sends a letter through the US mail to Santa/North Pole and receives a personalized letter back each year. Where does it go and who writes all these letter?

3. Probably the nice man at the post office. All my letters to Santa were never answered. I'm jealous.
4. In Canada the letters go to the local post office and they are answered personally by volunteers and postal employees.
5. There is a special area in the US Postal system that accept all letters to the North Pole - the fact that someone is responding is new on me though. Good Luck!!!
6. Someone at the post office probably does then puts it aside until a few days later when it arrives at the "North Pole" because if it was sent to the North Pole, it would be sent back because of an invalid address.

9. ALL letters are answered personally by Mr F Christmas. Unfortunately the postal service is absolute crap and he only receives half a dozen a year. Goodness knows what that postman does with the rest.
