Why do people refer to Santa as Kris Kringle?

- because long time ago there was a man called cringle who gave expencive presents to people in need, went on from there
- Kris Kringle, a name most likely derived from Christ Kindl (Christ-child) and Belsnickle, derived from Pelz-nickle (Nicholas in Furs). It originated in the 1800's with the Pennsylvania Dutch.
- Kris Kringle was the popular name in German for Christ Child. Over the centuries it just became confused with other cultures and became one of the names our Santa Claus is called.
