What is the correct terminology for the elderly Christmas Character that delivers presents every Christmas Eve by sleigh and eight reindeer?

- He was originally know as Kris Kringle and later they started calling him Santa Claus. I have heard him called all of the above just not sure why. But I would think that Santa Claus is the right terminology now a days.
