  1. Santa Claus has MANY names.
  2. well in different places they call him different names.a reason for this is becuase some religions belive in different things that he does each year.
  3. because chris kringle is a dutch tradition
  4. Kris Kringle is an American mis-pronunciation of the word "Christkindl" (or Christkindel), the German Christmas gift-bringer
  5. because he wants to... DUH!
  6. Because the common image in America today is a combination of several different images from the the various immigrant groups that came to the United States. It wasn't until the late 19th century that all of these different characterizations came together to form our current image of Santa Clause. (The Clement C Moore story and cartoons by Thomas Nast) Kris Kringle came from Germany and was a much sterner saintly type of character. Kris Kringle was the herald of the arrival of the Kris Kindle (Christ Child) Saint Nicolas came from the Dutch immigrants, who referred to him as Sinter Klaus (Where we actually get the name Santa Clause)
