can children sing christmas carols in school?

i am doing a project on this and i am just wanting some other people's opinions. I recently got in trouble at school for singing Christmas carols and i find it rather childish not to let people get ready for Christmas.

  1. Last year, the chorus came around singing christmas and hanukka songs. Sorry, can't spell that.
  2. my sons school is probably the most mixed race and cultured school you could find, and not only do they celebrate xmas IN A BIG WAY, but they also celebrate all other religious festivals..... he is so lucky to be in such a diverse school that teaches them to appreciate other peoples beliefs.
  3. I know at my school, both Christmas and Hanukkah songs were sung (and we learned about Kwanzaa and other festivals around the world that take place in the winter)... no one ever complained, everyone was happy doing it. The kids in my grade had a blast learning all the different songs & stories.
  4. it's "Hanukkah" =P
  5. You know, all these other groups protest that there shouldn't be anything remotely Christian in the schools - songs, prayers, etc. yet, you don't see the Christians fighting to have these things remain. We just meekly bow out and let these people have their way. We need to begin to argue and put up a fuss about how our Christian rights are being taken away from us!
