Business thank you letters?

We received a few christmas cards in the mail and my boss wants me to write some thank you letters. What do i say? some sent us candy others just the card. I'm not good at writing things. I could just say, Thank for that card! and be done! Any suggestions on what to say?

  1. "Thank you for thinking of us during the holiday season and sending us the card/candy. We hope that this new year brings you and your company much success. We look forward to working with you. (If it's a client). Sincerely."
  2. Etiquette dictates that acknowledgements be sent for gifts/contributions but NOT just for a card.
  3. There is no need to answer a card back with a card. Any gift (candy or whatever) certainly should be acknowledged with a thank you. Something simple should suffice. "Thank you for the _______; I (We) appreciate your thoughfulness at this time of the year and look forward to our continuing relationship. May you and your family have a prosperous 2008.
