Vintage Christmas Decorations Knowledge Base
Do people want "vintage" Christmas decorations? I've been trying to sell all the old Christmas decorations from my parent's estate. There are artificial wreaths, ornaments, figurines, etc. I've advertised in the local paper, Craig's List and even the bulletin board at work, Nary a nibble. I though people would be snapping up these older decorations. What gives?
What "style" are your Christmas decorations? Mine is very traditional even though my house is modern....I have a lot of antique and vintage ornaments and have greenery (holly and ivy) draped everywhere....my friend has a dark blue Christmas tree with only silver ornaments on it..and that's it..she likes minimal...what about you? What do you have and why? Is there a special ornament that you love?
Hey! So I love Christmas but I'm really worried?! WTH? Help!? I <3 Christmas so much I wanna cry! LOL! I'm super excited and I wanna put my tree up now! I tried to make some decorations for around our living room but they looked c**p! I want Christmas to be amazing and I dunno if it will be which makes me feel sick with worry, what is wrong with me?! Also, I have no idea what I want for Christmas! I don't want money or gift cards *yawns* Our tree is old and I want to 'spice' it up a bit because our decorations are really boring! Also is it going to snow this year? (In the UK) Thanks and sorry it was so long but I hope you can help! P.S how can I get to sleep on Christmas Eve? I feel to sick with excitement to sleep!
Who has ever been dumpster diving and what are some of your favorite findings? -Last summer we went dumpster diving and found the game Mad Gab in perfect conditin and a few other board games and a fan -Just tonight we went to a house where the people are moving out and just threw all of their belongings into a 40 yrd dumpster (dirty smelly heaven!) We found 3 trash bags full of kids clothes all with tags still on them, a vintage suitcase, stuffed animals for the neighbor kids, a few jackets and pants that would fit me and my boyfriend, a great looking flower pot and some christmas decorations for my grandmother....all of this stuff was brand new and in awesome shape...this was definitly my greatest dumpster experience.

50's/Vintage/Chic bedroom decoration ideas? Hi, I'm a 14 year old girl and for my Christmas and 15th birthday present my parents are going to let me redecorate my room. I wanted to do a 50's vintage chic Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn stuff like that kinda room. So if you have any ideas PLEASE share!! My main color is a light pastel pink and the complementary color is white, hope this helps.
Someone help me decide what to do with my room!? I'm painting my room during christmas break, and I really want it to have a vintage theme to it. What color should I paint it? Black and white seems a bit boring to me. Would colors like brown and turquoise work together? Or purple and black/white? Lol someone help me! & also where could I get cute vintage decorations & accessories? that arent expensive!
Decorations for a teenage girl's room? I am thirteen years old. I recently had my room painted a some-what dark shade of aqua. On my floor, I have a soft white rug [I believe it is refferred to as "shag", unless I'm incorrect]. I found a black canvas with a painting of a white tree on it at Ross, and it's also hanging on my wall. This picture inspired my room. I want to have a dark aqua, black and white color theme, with splashes of raspberry here and there. Specifically, I'm looking for hot pink/raspberry colored letters to put on my wall [the kind that people spell out their initials/names with] and a line of white lights [similiar to christmas lights, but perhaps more dainty?] to drape on my walls. I am open to other decorations, though. I love antique and vintage looking items. Would you please post links to websites with decorations that might suit me? Thank you to all who help! I will remember to rate high on the best answer. =)

SO stressed out...Please help! Undercharged a customer by mistake? OK, I don't know if there is anyone out there who can help, but I am so stressed out and just don't know what to do about this. In this economy I haven't been able to find a job so I was forced to find another way. I started a small boutique business out of my home for Christmas. I sell Christmas decorations, collectibles, etc. In particular, I have a huge collection of vintage barbies I am selling. I didn't have the prices completely worked out and I was just setting up as someone came over to look. She wanted to buy many of my barbies, and I was kind of overwhelmed by it. When she finally left with her purchases I realized I did not add the numbers correctly and undercharged her by $60! I am a very small business just starting out and sometimes I don't even make $60 in one day. I know that sounds crazy and I hope I don't seem petty, but in this economy with no job, $60 is a lot and I just don't know what to do. I was thinking about calling her and asking her if I could buy the barbies back from her for the price she paid me. I was also thinking of telling her about the $60 undercharge and seeing if she might pay part of it - maybe asking her to pay half ($30) since it was my mistake. But I don't know, I don't want to create an untrustworthy reputation for myself especially since I am just starting out. I started this thing with no experience or business education, and now I am regretting that. I just have no idea what to do and have been stressing out about it for 2 days. I need help! She seemed really nice and probably would work with me about it...Should I just eat it because it was my mistake or should I call her and see if we can work out a compromise? Anyone with an opinion would help, but especially someone with experience or education in owning or managing a small business/boutique. One thing that added to the confusion was at the end she changed her mind and switched out a less valuable barbie for a more valuable barbie, but paid the same total price. Another part of it was she got really emotional (crying) looking at the barbies because they reminded her of her childhood. I think I got caught up in the emotion a little which distracted me from the money side of things. I guess that will teach me to mix emotions and business!
Ideas for my moms Christmas present? I'm going to make her a painting to hang up in the house. I made her one last year and she loved it :) Our house has very earthly colors. Like browns, tans, dark oranges, blues and soon.. reds. We have dark light fixtures and some dark wall decorations. So I need some unique ideas. Anything at all is greatly appreciated. I have a few but I need more. I wanted to do something sort of vintage or modern. I'll be working with canvas, acrylic paints and/or pastels. I have to finish this before the end of the month so I can go get it framed. Haha. Thank you!

14x14 room design ideas? For last couple months I've been redoing my room. I have to do it with my own cash & I'm not old enough for a job ( next year!! ) so I'm on a very low budget. My color scheme is dark purple, like this: http://www.colourlovers.com/color/2A044A/Hymn_Royale and lime green, like this: http://www.colourlovers.com/color/83A300/Kotak . My theme is these colors with damask print, & lots of little black accents here & there. So yeah. My room is roughly 14 x 14 ft, which isn't small, but definitely not very big. I currently have a twin bed w/ drawers & cupboards under it built in, a nightstand, a bookcase that's about three feet wide and 7 feet tall, and an entertainment unit about four feet wide and five feet tall. I have a window about 3 feet by five feet. I put a double curtain over my window, with lime green sparkly curtains in back with lavender trim and dark purple metallicy curtains in front. They go down to the floor almost, which I like. I also made my bedspread. It's lime green on the sides with a plum stripe down the middle & buttons on the bottom. On my bookcase, I have on one shelf 5 big and small apothecary jars in purple, green, and one Eiffel tower shaped black one, & a printer paper sized mirror with vintage fancy black frame. On shelf two I have a decorative box & just pictures & nick knacks & the bottom two shelves are DVDs & stuff like that. All my furniture is medium brown wood, bleck. But I also have a green butterfly chair & a purple and black cheetah rug. HERE'S MY ROOM LAYOUT http://postimage.org/image/c87hddj93/59d5067a/ Over the window there's a string of white twinkle lights. Under the window next to the chair is stacked up decorative boxes & a lamp sitting on top of them. Above the chair on one wall is a dry erase board w/ two small picture frames below it and on the other wall is a memo cork board and a printer paper sized mine 3 shelf wall unit thingy that's green and black. I also have a HUGE 3 ft tall by 5 ft wide mirror/ cork board combo thing that's heavy and doesn't hang but I love it and it's currently on the floor -.- Hmm, what else do I have.. I guess that's it. And in that big blank space on the left side of my layout pic is where I'll be putting a desk as soon as I get one, & I'll probably put the mirror/cork board on top of that. BUT. What are DIY cheap / no cost decorating ideas I can do? Like, wall decorations, crafts, etc. Also I thought of doing wall art, but what are good quotes to use? Any ideas that I didn't think of? Also, my dad said I couldn't paint my room but I'm going to ask again and if he says yes, what paint color should I use? I at first thought a deep plum like the color above, but someone told me that would make my room look even smaller, & even though it's not technically 'small' my bed & entertainment unit are bulky & boxy so my room looks tinier. Is the plum okay? If not, what colors should I do? I want it to look good when lighted by lamps, candles, Christmas twinkle lights, etc. since that's what I'm going to have.
Room decoration/style? Hello everyone! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I'm going to be redoing my room this year and I'm at a little spot where I can't decide what I want to do. I have an eclectic(likes many different things) style. There are many colors I want to paint my room but its so small I'd have to go really light on the colors. I want to make my room feel bigger and artistic. I love art! Horses actually any kind of animal Chinese symbols and animal prints and wild funky colors skulls and pirates and vintage things or antiques. I know I know I can't put all that in my room so I think I want to stick with something vintage and or antique. Any Ideas of what I could do? Oh if you could add websites and pictures of your idea! Thanks!
